One of our executives Rhys Tague will not be able to carry out the rest of the executive year being the Sergeant At Arms as he now has other commitments. This means there is a great opportunity for one of our members to become part of the Campbelltown executive. For all the new members out there being an executive is not a daunting task. In fact it allows you to grow at a exponential rate when it comes to confidence and leadership ability.
Not the next meeting (3rd of March) but the meeting after, there will be an election for a new Sergeant of Arms. Put you hand up and have a go! You will be Sergeant At Arms for just under 6 months before the next change over happens. WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!
If you want to see what is involved in the role, some executive members are turning up early, 6:30pm, to set up the room for the International Speech Contest. Lend them a hand and you will learn the ropes. You’re all a smart bunch, so anyone will be able to learn it quickly and enjoy being an executive member. It if are thinking of taking on the role talk to an executive member and they will set the ball rolling for the election.
The role of a Sergeant of Arms is to take care of setting up the room and clearing the room when the meeting starts and finishes. It also entitles making sure the club has enough supplies (ribbons etc.) by informing the executive when it gets low. You can do it!
For Rhys Tague he will still be around and about, looking after the club website, shooting off emails and anything else he can do while not attending the meetings. He has mentioned that he will be away for 12 months and will be back for the Christmas Meeting. He has paid his semi-annual dues already so he is still a financial member for the next 6 months. Think about that next time you’re at a meeting the semi-annual dues need to be in.
Yes, that is right! The International Speech Contest is here! Who’s going to go in it? It is on the 3rd of March, our next meeting, Great opportunity! If you are going in please advice our Vice President of Education Jill Standen, because it will make the night run smoother.
Good Luck to all contestants.
Cheers,
Campbelltown Toastmasters Executive
